-Material-
Constructed from a dense yet lightweight reinforced composite, this item is non-toxic, extremely durable, and exceptionally stable. It is finished with high-grade steel plates on both the top and bottom. Designed for outstanding heat resilience, every component is A1 fire-rated and fully non-combustible.
 
-Heat retention-
The core material is a poor conductor of heat meaning that while the underside of the mantel can become quite hot the top surface remains cool/warm.
 
-Concealed Fixings-

Supplied with 3-6 supports depending on size. All my non combustible shelves come with a section in the mantel rear to accommodate the support bars and washer allowing the shelf to sit nice and snug against the wall.The support bars supplied are suitable for solid walls. note that if you have a hollow plasterboard wall or dot and dab wall then please get in touch before purchasing so I can discuss other fixing options with you .Simple & detailed fitting instructions are provided in the box.
 
-Placement & Clearance-
For safe installation, we recommend positioning your non-combustible mantel shelf at least 15 cm away from the heat source. This minimum clearance allows for adequate airflow and heat dispersion, helping maintain safe operating temperatures around your wood burner, log burner, inset stove, or open fireplace.
Because our mantel shelves are made from a non-combustible reinforced composite material, they are highly resistant to heat and will remain stable even when installed closer to the heat source than traditional timber mantel beams.
Under UK Building Regulations – Approved Document J (Combustion Appliances and Fuel Storage Systems), combustible materials such as timber mantel beams must usually be installed at significantly greater distances from a stove or fireplace opening. Non-combustible materials, however, are not subject to the same clearance restrictions, which makes them an ideal choice for fireplace mantel shelves above wood burners and stoves where space may be limited.
Even when using A1 non-combustible materials, we still recommend allowing a minimum 15 cm clearance to promote airflow and prevent excessive heat build-up. Always follow your stove manufacturer’s installation guidance and consult a qualified installer or building professional where required.
This makes our fireproof mantel beam shelves a practical and safe solution for installation above log burners, inset stoves, open fires, and kitchen chimney hoods, combining modern fireplace safety with durable, heat-resistant design.
 
-Weight-
These are considered very lightweight when compared to other sellers non combustible mantels, weighing at approx. 7-9 kgs for a 122cm length, the weight of the core material is minimal so the difference between the 3.8cm and 6.8cm thickness is only around 0.5 kgs
