Can be positioned much closer than standard timber mantle beams (read below for more info). perfect mantle shelf above a wood burner, inset stove, open fires, mantelpiece stoves, kitchen chimney hoods, and more. They will remain strong and stable with fluctuating heat, even when placed close to the heat source while still adhering to current building regs.

-Material-
Made from dense lightweight reinforced mineral composite material sandwiched between Steel Plates Top and Bottom. non toxic super tough and very stable, I have designed this item to be extremely resilient to heat, so much so that every component used is A1 fire rated non combustible.
 
The bottom may become hot but the top remains cool/warm. due to the low heat conduction insulated core.

Approx. 6-8kgs per 100cm length. For example a 120cm version would be around 7-9 kgs inc shield.
 
-Concealed Fixings-

Supplied with 3-6 supports depending on size. All my shelves come with a section in the mantel rear to accommodate the support bars and washer allowing the shelf to sit nice and snug against the wall. The support bars supplied are suitable for solid walls. note that if you have a hollow plasterboard wall then get in touch as I have options for all wall types .Simple & detailed fitting instructions are provided in the box.

Recommended distances from heat source to a heat shielded mantel to allow for adequate air flow and adhere to current UK building regs.

So, compared to wooden mantels.. current building regs stipulate that wooden mantels require 45cm+ clearance , so our fireproof versions allow a huge reduction. this is very helpful for those wishing to place a TV above their fireplace.
