Shield supplied with sharp, mill-cut edges—handle with care.
File or sand edges, then clean with white spirit or acetone.
Drill 5 mm holes for spacer placement.
Recommended spray with stove paint or other heat-resistant paint.
 
-Placement Guidance (UK Building Regulations):-
 
Ideally cover the full underside of your mantel.
Inset/cassette stoves: Minimum 30 cm from the heat source (can reduce to 25 cm if appliance manufacturer guidance allows).
Wood burner flues: Minimum 1.5× flue diameter. Example: 4 inch flue = 15 cm clearance; 5 inch flue = 19 cm clearance.
Comparison: Unshielded mantels require 45 cm+ clearance or 3× flue diameter. Shielded versions allow ~50 % reduction.
