This great heat shield deflector allows the mantel to be much closer than standard timber mantle beams (read below for more info). perfect for above a wood burner, inset stove, open fires, mantelpiece stoves, kitchen chimney hoods, and more. Allowing to place your wooden beam lower while still adhering to current building regs.
 
Very popular for those who have a beam in place and have a new stove fitted which needs to comply to new UK building regs also a great choice for those fitting a tv above the stove.

Satin Black Heat resistant paint, with Black steel spacers and black wafer head screws with pre drilled holes spaced evenly

Raw steel as cut from the supplier, the surface will have light transit scuffs and blemishes with sharp cut edges that will require filing or sanding (gloves are recommended for handling), Provided without drilled holes for your own placement simply drill a 5mm hole using a metal drill bit.
I recommend using a heat resistant stove spray paint to finish the shield.  This option is great for those who have good DIY skills and wish to save a bit of money.

Heat rated steel shield

-Placement-
The heat shield should ideally cover the entire underside of the mantel.
Recommended distances from heat source to allow for adequate air flow and adhere to current UK building regs.
30cm from inset/cassette stoves, but may be reduced to 25cm if appliance manufacture guidance allows.

1.5x the diameter of a wood burner flue. For example, a 4-inch flue would require a distance of 15cm or a 5-inch would require 19cm, etc. The flue is considered a heat source (unless insulated), so the mantel should be placed at a distance, diagonally or vertically measured from the flue to the underside of the mantel shield.
Current building regs stipulate that unshielded mantels require 45cm+ clearance or 3x the flue diameter, so our shielded versions allow around 50% reduction.
