-Material-

-Fitting-
Fitting template and 6 - 10 coach screws, washers and wall plugs depending on weight, suitable for solid walls, timber stud or dot and dab walls. if you need advise just get in touch .Simple & detailed fitting instructions are provided in the box. These shelves are heavy so its recommended to have a helping hand ready when fitting.
 
-Placement & Clearance-
For safe installation, we recommend positioning your non-combustible shelf at least 15 cm away from the heat source. This minimum clearance allows for adequate airflow and heat dispersion, helping maintain safe operating temperatures around your wood burner, log burner, inset stove, or open fireplace.
Because these shelves are made from a non-combustible steel, they are highly resistant to heat and will remain stable even when installed closer to the heat source than traditional timber mantel beams.
Under UK Building Regulations – Approved Document J (Combustion Appliances and Fuel Storage Systems), combustible materials such as timber mantel beams must usually be installed at significantly greater distances from a stove or fireplace opening. Non-combustible materials, however, are not subject to the same clearance restrictions, which makes them an ideal choice for fireplace shelves above wood burners and stoves where space may be limited.
Even when using A1 non-combustible materials, we still recommend allowing a minimum 15 cm clearance to promote airflow and prevent excessive heat build-up. Always follow your stove manufacturer’s installation guidance and consult a qualified installer or building professional where required.
This makes my fireproof shelves a practical and safe solution for installation above log burners, inset stoves, open fires, and kitchen chimney hoods, combining modern fireplace safety with durable, heat-resistant design.
 
-TV Heat Protection & Safe Use-
The steel shelf acts as an effective heat deflector if you’re looking to position a TV above your fireplace.
For effective heat deflection, I recommend a minimum 50mm overhang beyond the front of the TV, measured at its furthest point from the wall. However this is the recommended minimum, if you have a high power burner then it may be worth allowing more overhang. I also recommend approximately 50mm of overhang on each side of the TV, meaning the shelf should ideally be around 100mm wider than the TV. and the tv should be positioned 20cm or more above the mantel top
Please note that, as this is a metal shelf, the steel can absorb heat from the fire. For this reason, I do not recommend placing electronic items, freestanding candles or other heat-sensitive objects directly on the shelf. While the appliance is operating, only stone, ceramic, metal or other suitable non-combustible items should be placed on it.
As with any TV installed above a fire, the customer is responsible for ensuring that the TV is positioned at a safe distance from the heat source and remains within the manufacturer's recommended operating temperature limits, where specified. I recommend positioning the TV at least 200mm above the shelf. However, this is a guideline rather than a guarantee of safe operating temperatures, as heat output and installation conditions vary.
I cannot accept responsibility for damage to electronic equipment resulting from inadequate clearances, excessive temperatures or unsuitable positioning. The customer must ensure that the installation is suitable for their particular appliance and TV, taking account of the relevant manufacturers' instructions.
